Contact usThe short version: You create an account (you must be 13+) and add the players you want to score or follow. We use that to run the app and turn scoring into a broadcast. We don't run ads, we don't use third-party trackers, and we never sell your data. You can delete any of it at any time.
Matchside is operated by Foundry Forty1 LLC ("Matchside", "we", "us"). This policy covers the Matchside iPhone app and the matchside.tv website. If you have any question about it, reach us at hello@foundryforty1.com.
Matchside is for people 13 and older — players, parents, coaches, and fans. We do not knowingly allow anyone under 13 to create an account. As an account holder, you may add the players you want to score or follow, which can include a minor (such as your own child, or a teammate you're scoring). When you do, you are responsible for that information and confirm you have the right to provide it. See Section 8.
When you sign in with Apple, Google, or an email address, we receive an account identifier and, depending on the method, your email address (Sign in with Apple lets you use a private relay address). If you set a display name during onboarding, we store that too.
To score matches, you create player profiles. A profile may include the fields you choose to fill in: name, birth year or birth month, rating (UTR / NTRP), hitting arm, backhand style, a signature color, an on-court character, and free-text notes. Some of this may describe a minor child — you decide what to enter, and you can edit or delete it at any time.
When you score a match, we store the point-by-point record, scores, timestamps, a short share code, and any generated broadcast commentary, highlight reels, and box-score data derived from it.
If you enable push notifications, we store a device push token so we can tell followers when a match goes live. You can turn notifications off in your device settings.
The New Match screen has an optional "Use my location" button that fills in where you're playing and the current conditions. Nothing happens unless you tap it and grant permission. When you do, the app reads your device's location once, converts it on your device into a city and state, and sends the coordinates to Open-Meteo (a weather service) to look up the current temperature and conditions for that moment. We do not store your coordinates — what gets saved to the match is the city, state, and a weather line such as "78°F, sunny." We do not track your location in the background, and the app never reads your location unless you press that button.
If you buy a pass, a subscription, or Fan Pass, the payment itself is processed by Apple — we never receive or store your card number, billing address, or any payment credentials. What we do store, tied to your account, is your plan status: which plan you're on, when it started and expires, your broadcast-credit balance, and a ledger of credits granted and spent (which match a credit was spent on, and when). We keep this to run the credit system, honor what you paid for, and answer support questions about a charge.
Like most apps, our servers automatically receive basic technical information (such as app version, device type, and request logs) needed to operate and secure the service. We also record first-party product events (for example, "a match was produced" or "a paywall screen was shown") to understand how the app is used. These stay in our own database and are not shared with an analytics vendor.
What we do not collect: We do not use third-party advertising or analytics SDKs. There are no ad trackers, no cross-app tracking, and no data brokers in Matchside. We never receive your payment-card details. We do not store your GPS coordinates, we never read your location in the background, and we do not collect your contacts, photos, or microphone data.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
Turning a scored match into a broadcast involves automated processing. Match details and player names are sent to our own compute environment and to our AI text provider to generate the play-by-play script, and to our voice-synthesis system to produce the audio. On public-facing screens and audio, a one-off opponent (a player you scored against but did not save) is shown by first name and rating only — never a full name. See Section 6 for the providers involved.
We don't sell your data. We share it only with the service providers ("subprocessors") that run the app on our behalf, each bound to use it only to provide their service to us:
We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect our rights or users' safety, or in connection with a business transfer. A current list of subprocessors is available on request.
Broadcasts are designed to be shared with family — not with the world. By default:
You control who you send a link to. Anyone you share a link with can view that broadcast.
Matchside is intended for people 13 and older and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly allow anyone under 13 to create an account, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe someone under 13 has created an account, contact us at hello@foundryforty1.com and we will delete it.
Because Matchside is a youth-sports app, account holders — a parent scoring their child, or a player, teammate, or fan aged 13+ — may enter information about other people, including minors (for example, a player's name and birth year). That information is provided and controlled by the account holder, who confirms they have the right to provide it and, for a minor, that they are the parent or guardian or are otherwise authorized. You can view, edit, and delete any player profile you created — and delete the associated matches and your account — at any time (see Section 9).
Note: This section addresses children's privacy, including U.S. COPPA (which applies to children under 13) and, where applicable, GDPR protections for minors. These areas are legally sensitive; this policy is being finalized with legal counsel before public launch.
We keep your information for as long as your account is active, so your match archive stays available to you. You are always in control:
Two things deliberately outlive a deleted account, both with every link to you removed. If you ever reported a safety concern, that report stays with us so we can still act on it — deleting an account must never become a way to erase a report. And the anonymous product counts we keep (see "Technical & log data" above) remain as unattributed rows. Neither is connected to you, your name, or your email once your account is gone.
When you delete data, we remove it from our live systems; residual copies may persist briefly in backups before being overwritten on our normal cycle.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export your personal information, or to object to certain processing. Because you already control your account data directly in the app, most requests can be handled there — and for anything else, email us at hello@foundryforty1.com. We won't discriminate against you for exercising these rights.
We protect your information with industry-standard measures, including encrypted connections, authenticated access, and per-account access controls so that one account cannot read another's data. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to keep yours safe and to limit what's collected in the first place.
Matchside is operated from the United States, and our providers may process and store data in the United States and other countries. If you use Matchside from outside the U.S., you understand your information will be processed in the U.S., where privacy laws may differ from your own.
We may update this policy as the app grows. When we make a material change, we'll update the date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Continuing to use Matchside after an update means you accept the revised policy.
